9, 2012—Congratulations to Schalmont Middle School student Nick Parisi for his contribution to Siena College's 25th Annual
Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King lecture series on
race and non-violent social change.
Nick earned a Certificate of Excellence for his
essay about MLK's commitment to equal rights and the role of the
Public Defender's Office in working for all people, regardless
of race or financial means. He also discussed his uncle, Adam
Parisi, a Schalmont alumnus who works in the office as a lawyer
serving the poor in this capacity.
Nick's piece, along with an array of artwork,
essays and poetry from students throughout the Capital Region,
was displayed at Siena during a special event honoring MLK in
mid January.
