August 23, 2010—Whether you're interested in brushing up on your
computer skills, improving your finances or finding a new and
enjoyable hobby, Schalmont Central School District's Adult
Education program has something for you.
This fall, more than 60 fun and interactive courses will be
offered. New courses include Facebook for Dummies, SUNY Youth
Sports Coaching Certification and a series of jewelry-making
classes. An overnight trip to Newport, Rhode Island has also
been scheduled. Several courses were added based on residents'
feedback via an online survey made available last spring.
For a
complete list of courses, download the
Fall 2010 Adult Education Brochure/Registration Form (PDF).
Please note the following corrections to the printed
brochure (as of September 13, 2010):
- Boating Safety - The price for this class
is incorrectly listed in the printed brochure. The class
will cost $5 for residents, $10 for
non-residents and $5 for resident seniors.
These prices have been updated in the online brochure.
- Coed Basketball - This class was
inadvertently left off the fall brochure. The class will be
offered on Thursdays from October
14 to December 16, 7:30-9 p.m. in
Schalmont High School Gym 2. The cost is $20 for residents
and $25 for non-residents. Gym space is limited so
registration is required. To register, please write the
course name on the registration form and mail the completed
form with payment to the district office.
All registration forms must
be submitted by mail except for those for Hall Walking (To
register for Hall Walking, visit the Schalmont District Office
between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.) You must
register for all programs even though there may be no cost
attached to a course.
Classes start as
early as Sunday, October 10. Registration will occur on
a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to register early.
