24, 2011—Following the closure of Mariaville Elementary School
at the end of the 2010-11 school year, principal Brian Hunt will
be moving on to become the superintendent at Edmeston Central
School District in Otsego County.
Edmeston is a rural school district west of Cooperstown, NY. It
has 470 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Hunt will be
relocating to the area for his new job.
Hunt has served as Mariaville’s principal for five years. Prior
to that, he was the principal at Pinewood Elementary School in
the Mohonasen Central School District for three years. He was a
social studies teacher for a combined 13 years at Voorheesville
and Duanesburg school districts before becoming an elementary
principal.
Hunt earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Brown
University. He has a master’s degree in social sciences from
Wesleyan University, and his certification in educational
administration from the College of St. Rose.
“I’ve had a great experience here at Mariaville and Schalmont,
and I am going to miss all of the students and families,” said
Hunt. “At the same time, I am looking forward to the next step
in my career.”
