June 28, 2010—Families, friends and staff gathered at Proctor's
Theatre on Friday, June 25, to recognize and congratulate 170
members of the Class of 2010.
The 53rd annual commencement ceremony began with seniors
participating in the "Pomp and Circumstance" processional,
followed by William Gavin and David Mastoianni leading the
audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Matthew Gogis and Shelby
Taylor called for a moment of silence in memory of former
classmate, Timothy Slider, who died in 2003.
The audience was entertained throughout the evening with
speeches from the Master of Ceremonies Stacy Scheffer,
Salutatorian Kelly Piotrowski, Valedictorian Megan Lesperance,
Class President Cassandra Brown and Student Council President
Maria Mastroianni. Superintendent Dr. Valerie Kelsey and Board
of Education President Kevin Thompson also offered their
congratulations.
Class Vice-President Joseph Falcone, Student
Council Secretary Benjamin Fontana and Class Secretary Kaitlyn
Perkins presented the class gift—an engraved memorial bench in
honor of Teacher's Aide Sandie Stryjek, which will be placed on
the school's new brick walkway. They also donated $1,000 towards
Stryjek's annual memorial scholarship award.
Music was provided by members of Chorus, Concert Choir Seniors
and the Wind Ensemble. Students performed "The Star Spangled
Banner," "Yesterday's Joy," "Salute to Class of 2010," and the
school's "Alma Mater."
Congratulations graduates and best wishes for the future!
