  • To increase the percentages of students scoring in levels 3 and 4 on New York State exams (see chart at right)
  • Increase/improve technology and integrate into instruction
  • Technology skills bench-marking by grade level
  • Literacy/ELA curriculum mapping
  • Science curriculum:
    • Include/expand chemistry as a discipline
    • Introduction of current and future studies in science (e.g., nanotechnology, biomedical)
  • Introduction of foreign language through clubs
  • Explore project-based, annual community service experience for specific grades (5)
  • Better data management/analysis – exam management
  • More enrichment (e.g., special clubs)

 Strategic Plans: Elementary

  • Literacy - To implement a major change in the district-wide, multi-year literacy curriculum for the purposes of challenging all students' individual reading levels and achieving the objective of 100 percent literacy by the end of third grade. Introduced in 2005-06. Implement year three. Curriculum map to be completed 2008-09. 

  • Everyday Math fourth grade 2009-10

  • Science curriculum map strands to be developed K-12 (chemistry, nanotechnology, biomedical)

  • Explore Woestina as Title I school with integrated technology (curriculum maps/student skills)

  • Foreign language club introduced 2008-09
