 Boys Varsity Basketball - 2007-08:

  • Overall Record: 1 wins, 19 losses
  • League Record: 1 wins, 15 losses
  • Sophomore JP Sportman named Team MVP and All Tournament All-star at Niskayuna Tip-off Tournament
  • Junior Chris Hotaling received Team Sportsmanship Award
  • Senior Dustin Quay named All Tournament All-star at Kirvin Cup Tournament and an Exceptional Senior game participant
  • Senior Tom Tierney nominated for the Capital District Basketball Scholar-Athlete Award

Boys Varsity Bowling - 2007-08:

  • Overall Record: 16 wins, 1 loss
  • League Standing: 15 wins, 1 loss
  • Colonial Council Champions (first time since 2001-2002 school year)

  • Finished third at Colonial Council Tournament and Class B Sectionals

  • Finished third at Rotterdam Invitational. Adam Lawyer had the Hi Single.

  • Colonial Council All-stars:

    • 1st team - Mark Horwedel (grade 12), Adam Lawyer (grade 10)

    • 2nd team - Chris Horwedel (grade 12)

    • Honorable mention - Tom Zink (grade 12), Jesse Horwedel (grade 12)

  • Individual accomplishments:

    • Hi Single in league was Mark Horwedel with 300, and Jesse Horwedel came in second with 299.

    • Mark Horwedel had the third highest average in the league with 219.

    • Adam Lawyer had the eighth highest average in the league with 210.

    • Chris Horwedel had the ninth highest average in the league with 210.

  • Schalmont co-MVPs: Mark Horwedel and Adam Lawyer

  • Schalmont Most Improved Player: Bryan Timperlake (grade 12)

  • Other team members: grade 12 - Devin Hartman, Casey Stearns, Dan Tompkins ; grade 11 - John Pitucci; grade 10 - Nick Caputo and Brian Constantino; grade 9 - Steve Oliveira

Boys Varsity Swimming - 2007-08:

  • Overall Record: 5 wins, 8 losses
  • Finished sixth in Section II - an all-time high for the team
  • Placed 8 out of 28 teams at Long Island Invitational
  • At sectionals, Schalmont swimmer Devin Hallam was on the:

    • 200 Medley Relay, placed fifth with a time of 1:42.71. 

    • 200 Free Relay, placed fifth with a state qualifying time of 1:30.58

    • 400 Free Relay, placed seventh with a time of 3:33.29

  • As an individual at sectionals, Hallam placed fifth in the 100 yard Freestyle with a state qualifying time of 49.43. 

  • Sophomore Ian Cohn qualified for sectionals in the 200 Individual Medley, 500 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. 

  • At the state meet, Devin placed 23rd in the 100 Free with a school record of 48.98 and 23rd in the 200 Free Relay.

  • School Records with Devin: 200 Medley Relay (1:42.71), 200 Freestyle (1:51.64), 100 Freestyle (48.98), 500 Freestyle (5:10.25), 200 Free Relay (1:30.58), 400 Free Relay (3:29.57)

Girls Varsity Basketball - 2007-2008:

  • Overall Record: 5 wins, 16 losses
  • League Standing: Seventh place
  • This was a rebuilding year after graduating three seniors last year, when we had a 16-8 season.

  • Top scorer: Kelly Piotrowski with 10 points/game

  • Top rebounder: Cara DellaVilla with 9 points/game

  • Colonial Council All-star: 3rd team - Kelly Piotrowski

  • Voted to Colonial Council Exceptional Senior Game: Megan Halliwell

Girls Varsity Bowling - 2007-08:

  • Overall Record: 12 wins, 3 losses
  • League Standing: 10 wins, 2 losses
  • Colonial Council Champions

  • Finished third at sectionals

  • Colonial Council All-stars:

    • 1st team - Renee Tomasek (Grade 11), Natasha Bidwell (Grade 8), and Meredith Juers (Grade 9)

    • 2nd team - Marissa Leone

    • (Grade 11)
  • This season, the team was led by eighth-grader Natasha Bidwell with a 180 average, 11th-grader Renee Tomasek with a 172 average and ninth-grader Meredith Juers with a 174 average.

  • Meredith Juers had the highest three-game series (i.e. high triple) with a score of 666.

Wrestling - 2006:

  • Senior and team co-captain Jeremy Cuomo, coming off of a perfect 38-0 record and a New York State championship, secured his fifth straight title at the Saratoga tournament, third straight title at the Fonda tournament (where he was voted most outstanding wrestler), fifth straight title in the Class C tournament, fourth Section II title, and a fourth trip to the NYS tournament. He placed fourth at the NYS championship tournament in March 2007.
  • Co-captain John Chandler, a junior, was third at Mohonasen, third at Saratoga, and second at the Class C tournament.
  • Sophomore Billy Chandler was third at Mohonasen, third at Saratoga, and placed third at the Class C tournament. He also was voted the most outstanding wrestler at the Sabre Duals Tournament.
  • Freshman Vincent Gallo placed third at Mohonasen, second at Saratoga, first at Fonda, and second at the Class C tournament.
  • Eighth-grader Sammy Shields finished third at Mohonasen, second at Fonda, and fifth at the Class C tournament.
