Brian Hunt has served as
the principal of Mariaville Elementary School since August 2006.
Prior to joining Schalmont, he spent
three years as the principal of Pinewood Elementary School
in Mohonasen Central School District. He was the district’s
K-12 social studies administrator from 2001 to 2003. Between
1988 and 2001, he taught social studies at Voorheesville
High School, Duanesburg High School, Johnstown High School,
and Bethlehem High School. Between 1998 and 2001, he was
also the summer program administrator for the Capital Region
Board of Cooperative Educational Services distance learning
program.
Hunt earned a bachelor’s degree from
Brown University and a master’s degree from Wesleyan
University. He later earned certification in educational
administration from the College of St. Rose. He received
permanent social studies 7-12 and school district
administrator (SDA) certification from the NYS Education
Department.
His current professional memberships
include the National Association of Elementary School
Principals and Association for Supervision and Curriculum
Development. He also serves on the Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Schenectady County.
