Terence “Terry” Nash has
served as the principal of Schalmont High School since 1999. He
previously served as the assistant principal from 1991 to 1993.
Prior to his current position, Nash spent six years as the
middle school principal and athletic director in
Coxsackie-Athens Central School District in Coxsackie, NY. From
1989 to 1991, he was the director of the Glenmont Job Corps
Center in Glenmont, NY. He had previously held several positions
there, including group life director and education and training
director, between 1977 and 1986. From 1986 to 1989, he was the
director of the Office of Employment and Training at
Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson, NY. From 1982 to
1985, he was the director of the Chesapeake Job Corps Center in
Port Deposit, MD. Nash also taught and coached from 1971 to 1974
at St. Patrick’s Central Catholic High School in Catskill, NY.
Nash received a bachelor’s degree from Marist College and a
master’s degree from the College of St. Rose. While at Marist,
he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also
received permanent school district administrator (SDA), school
administrator and supervisor (SAS) and driver and traffic safety
certification from the NYS Education Department.
His current professional memberships include the National
Association of Secondary School Principals, Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development, National Middle School
Association, NYS Middle School Association, National
Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, and NYS
Athletic Administrators Association. He also serves as president
of the Colonial Council Principals Association and as a Colonial
Council Section II Representative Public High School Athletic
Association.
He and his wife have two grown children, a son and a daughter.
