John Gallo was named
athletics director/discipline support for Schalmont Central
School District in November 2006.
Prior to that, he spent five years as
the assistant principal of Schalmont Middle School. He
taught social studies at the middle school from 1997 to
2001. He was a social studies teacher at LaSalle Institute
in Troy, N.Y., from 1993 to 1997. From 1988 to 1992, he
taught driver education at Mohonasen High School. From 1986
to 1988, he taught science and math at Draper Junior High
School.
Over the years, Gallo has held many
positions related to teaching athletes. At Schalmont High
School, he was the head football coach from 1988 to 2006 and
the head wrestling coach from 1988 to 2002. He spent time as
the head coach for football and wrestling at LaSalle and
Mohonasen as well.
Gallo earned a bachelor’s degree from
Springfield College and a master’s degree from SUNY Albany.
He later earned certification in educational administration
from the College of St. Rose. He also received permanent
certification for school district administrator (SDA),
school administrator and supervisor (SAS), social studies
7-12, and driver education from the NYS Education
Department.
He is currently a member of the School
Administrators Association of New York State.
He and his wife have four children.
