Jason Thompson has served as the assistant
principal at Jefferson Elementary School since July 2009.
Thompson most recently worked for the
Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District, where he spent
five years as a teacher. During that time he taught fifth grade
and full-day kindergarten, to which all three Schalmont
elementary schools will expand in September 2009. He also spent a
year as a summer school principal and an administrative intern.
Prior to his time in Cobleskill-Richmondville, Thompson spent a
year teaching second grade in the South Colonie Central School
District and eight months substitute teaching for Capital Region
BOCES.
From 1998 to 2002, Thompson co-owned a
company that provided insurance claims services for medical
practitioners. This venture gave him numerous experiences in
areas such as budget management, contract negotiations and the
hiring and supervision of employees.
Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree from
SUNY Albany and a master’s degree from the College of St. Rose.
In 2009, he also earned an advanced graduate certificate in
school building leadership from SUNY Albany. He currently holds

an educator for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and grades 1-6.
He and his wife have three children.
