Schalmont is pleased to
announce the launch of their new
"School News Notifier" (SNN), a system designed to help keep
parents and the community more in touch with what is happening at
Schalmont Schools. SNN is an opt-in email
alert system where parents and residents can sign up to receive e-mail alerts
from different schools or the superintendent. With SNN, administrators have the power to send updates and reminders
about school activities, information about emergency school
closings and delays, and notices about changes in sex offender
residency. Users can choose to receive any or all of
the alerts, and they can unsubscribe at any time. **Your e-mail
address will be kept confidential.**

School News Notifier
Home Page
How do
I sign up?
Go to the
SNN home page and
create a profile. You will be asked to fill in your name, your
e-mail address and to select a password. Once you create your
profile, you will be asked to select which alerts you would like
to receive. Once you choose your alerts and click subscribe you
will be all set! (You can change your selected alerts at any time
by logging in to the system.)
What
alerts can I receive?
Presently the district is offering the
following alerts:
- Emergency school closings and delays:
Find out via e-mail if school will be closed or delayed due to
inclement weather. This will feature district-wide
cancellations only. Information about early dismissals in case
of an emergency will also be disseminated through this alert.
- District News: Sign up for this
alert if you are interested in learning about:
- Upcoming Schalmont Board of Education meetings,
- The school budget and budget planning
sessions,
- Events/topics that affect the whole
district, and
- Changes in sex offender residency. You'll
receive a notice when the school district is notified by
police that a registered sex offender has moved into or
changed residency in the district. This is a rare
occurrence, but signing up for this notification will give
you quick access to whatever information we receive from the
state or town police. You also can find information on sex
offenders at any time on the
New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services website.
- Jefferson News: This alert will
contain information related strictly to activities at
Jefferson Elementary School.
- Mariaville News: This alert will
contain information related strictly to activities at
Mariaville Elementary School.
- Woestina News:
This alert will contain information related
strictly to activities at Woestina Elementary School.
- Middle School News: This alert will
contain information related strictly to activities at the
Middle School.
- High School News: This alert will
contain information related strictly to activities at the High
School.
How
often will I receive an alert?
The number of alerts you receive will
depend on which alerts you sign up for and how the principal of
your child's school chooses to utilize the system.
How do I unsubscribe?
If you decide that you don't want to receive
any updates from Schalmont's SNN system, it is easy to
unsubscribe. When you visit the SNN home page, there is an
"unsubscribe" link on the right hand navigational rail. Click on
it, fill in the form and you're done!
Can
my group (team, class, etc.) send out an alert?
The system can be very useful for sending out
reminders for PTO meetings or information on cancelled
activities. Please contact your school's principal to discuss
how you may utilize the system. If you are interested in sending
out an alert to those who have signed up to receive district-wide news, please contact
Mellissa Sweeney, at 355-9200, x4006.
The district is presently beta-testing this
application. Your input is highly valued. If you have any
suggestions problems or questions, please contact
Mellissa Sweeney, at 355-9200,
